Another random Tuesday. Again I circled the hateful words in the headlines of the NY Times main section, and compared them to the words that connote love, peace, compassion and understanding.
Once again, there was lots to be anxious about: Debris, Deficit, Bombers, Alert, Deploy, Warning, Damaging, Warned, Catastrophe, Suspect, Protest, Worrying, Blow, Pained, Steely, Trauma, Hold Back, Suspension, Protest, Troubled, Burden, Shard, Isolated, Mourning.
Then I looked for understanding and compassion in the headlines - not much: "Openness, Promises." And even "openness" was in a headline that promoted anxiety - "A Blow for OPENNESS." So I guess that leaves "promises." Hmmm.
By giving the Times my one dollar a day I am willingly contributing to this nonsense - the editors will think I LIKE being fed this crap every day. Surely there must be some GOOD NEWS out there. Surely the Times wants to promote peace and international understanding.
I decided again that I should cancel my subscription to the NY Times. But I didnt.
A friend told me "you'll be out of touch with the zeitgeist."
