If you are willing to buy real estate, you will have to receive the loan. Moreover, my brother commonly takes a commercial loan, which is really reliable.

Thanks for the heads-up, Charles.

Anyone else experiencing problems using Skype (or other applications) via Comcast in the Belmont (or other) area?

Net Neutrality is the First Amendment of the Internet - it treats all information and users as equals.

As a pre-condition of their merger with SBC, AT&T is currently the only company required to abide by Net Neutrality rules, and only for 2 years.

Sadly, Comcast (or other companies) can degrade the service of alternative applications (such as Skype) without penalty or redress.

Charles

The morning after attending a talk by Dave Matheson that covered this subject (among others), I tried to use Skype, a free internet phone service that Dave Matheson said the big communications conglomerates were very scared about. Well, guess what happened? When I tried to use the Skype service, I discovered that my internet service provider (Comcast in Belmont, CA) seemed to have quietly blocked it. Further digging uncovered that Comcast seemed to begin degrading the Skype service, which competes with a Comcast VoIP serice, in certain parts of northern California a few months back. This is a clear violation of net neutrality, and probably a few local laws too (since Comcast depends upon local public resources to provide their service). Not good.
